So far, yet so close.

Judkis, Maura (2012. April 18th) Space shuttle Discovery: With social media, so close, and yet, so far. The Washington Post: The Style Blog

As Maura sits in her office at work, others are outside looking up at the space shuttle Discovery that passed by the Washington Post office on Tuesday. Although she was inside, not able to see the shuttle that everyone was looking at, she felt as if she was there looking at it too. Due the massive online posts on media sites about the discovery. She couldn't help it but come down with a serious case of FOMO, "Fear of missing out", as she states from the New York Times tech reporter, Jenna Wortham, in a recent essay. It's amazing how she wasn't there but with so many people sharing their statuses about it she felt like she was. That's the thing with networking and social media, as soon as something big and exciting happens, you don't have to wait long to hear about it.
